Science in Positive Thinking

You always feel dull , frustrated , low when you aren't able to accomplish something that you desire, or cannot complete your work on time.
What do your loved ones tell you then?
"Don't worry, think positive, Everything will go well."
All of us have been hearing this 'think positive' , 'do positive' and many more adjectives for the word 'positive'.. I have been  coming across the same 'positive thinking' concept in different ways in the last few years.

I had read a book few years back , something about how to be successful and how to get where you want . Don't remember the title and author though. Bad at that! So basically the author conveys that if you want to achieve something or anything , think positively about it, keep picturing the happy end result in your mind , keep telling yourself that so and so will be done, or that you will do it. Then all the forces in nature works towards completing your work, meaning you will be able to achieve what you want.

Lately my mom, aunt and few cousins have been attending the 'New Energy ' Meditation classes. The concept in this class is almost the same. A person needs to think positively or picture what he wants during meditation. For eg: If you want to get rid of your migraines, you need to keep picturing yourself rid of the headaches. It's not just thinking, you should make believe that it is gonna happen. My mom who has been suffering from migraines has lesser headaches now. And its not just sitting cross-legged and closing your eyes to meditate, but you can also meditate as you do your own work. Like when your washing dishes, or cleaning, keep telling yourself that you are not gonna have headaches anymore. It isn't necessary that you meditate in your own favor, it can even be done in favor of others. So much in the power of mind.

I try to meditate.
Few seconds into it....
I breathe...
Breathe...
Dishes..
My baby's smile...
Dinner...
Skype...
Novel...
I breathe..
Hubby...
I breathe..
Wow.. I've  gottu work more harder on my meditation. It's so difficult to get the mind in control. Does this happen to you?

Few days back I completed  my favorite author Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'. So in this book Brown speaks about Neotic Science which deals with modern science meeting mind and associated stuff. A scientist(a character) in this book researches on neotic science which is probably a very complicated thing to understand. She discovers that every thought has a mass. So if many people think the same thing, the totality of mass of such thoughts creates a force and works towards happening of what was thought. Something similar to what happens in mass prayers,  mass meditations and group healings. Of course the story in this book is fictional. But I'm just stressing on the principle what the author intended to convey in this episode.

My intention is anyway to convey how powerful  positive thinking is. So many books, so many people tell the same thing- to think positive, not to give up, keep up the will power and the world/nature will eventually work in your favor .There is so much of science behind this positive thinking. But of course it goes without saying that thinking positive alone does not materialize into anything . Hard work and belief in oneself should manifest our positive thoughts.

So think +vely always.

Buckle Up, Get set, Go....

Never Diminishing

All I am about to write is about Akshaya Tritiya. It means never diminishing. It is celebrated by both Hindus and Jains. But I kinda felt it is wrongly understood or celebrated. Or at least I felt most of us do not know the real meaning of this day other than buying gold on this day. Isn't it?

As per my search in google, I found that as per Hinduism ,this day is celebrated as the birthday of Sage Parashuram / sixth avatar of Vishnu. This is also the day River Ganga descended to earth from heaven as per the mythology. So it is believed that doing charity on this day is a blessing. So as in starting new ventures / deeds.

For Jains, it's a story about a king of Ayodhya who ended his year long fast today when he was offered sugarcane juice from his grandson. It took a year and his grandson to understand that all He wanted was food and not worldly materials which people kept offering him.

My Pessimism starts here.

Just  like Valentines day , friendships day, fathers day, mothers day and all other days being so over hyped just for marketing the retail products by business owners, I feel even Akshaya Tritiya is over hyped by jewellers/banks/finance companies in India in recent years. (No offense and not that I don't celebrate these special occasions, but I am just merely trying to understand the big picture). So people buy gold thinking that it multiplies if you buy on this day. Don't know what people will do with all the multiplied gold, if it ever multiplies and if it really makes sense.

People are actually supposed to do charity on this day. It is a blessing. On the contrary when our holy book Bhagavadhgeetha teaches us to forsake all worldly pleasures and desires , to give and not ask more, why do we some people do exactly the opposite. Why do we see buying gold on this day as auspicious? Why do we perform Lakshmi pooja for wealth and property? Does it make any sense? It doesn't , to me.

I know its practical in this age to have wealth enough to live comfortably. But isn't the real meaning of this day being masked by the gimmicks of business people. All we know is the picture projected by marketing companies than the religious side of it.

So I think all of us should understand the real meaning of this day and grab an opportunity to do some charity or good deeds on this day instead of dwelling on buying gold and it bringing wealth and getting multiplied and so on.

On the lighter side, here's what I baked for my friends on their anniversary.

Chocolate cupcakes which was more like chocolate brownies. Anyways it tasted chocolaty!!

Have a good day. If I buy a chocolate on this day. Will it multiply and will I keep getting more and more of it? All chocolate lovers, try it ;))

Diagnosis of Nothing

I recalled Ms. Mariette, my 6th std class teacher telling us "Beg, borrow or steal, but you have to get it tomorrow." Is it really ok for a teacher to tell such a thing which makes stealing a kind of obligation? It is not OK according to me. Although I guess she was just being sarcastic when she said so.

Sarcasm can be a crude thing sometime. When one doesn't know that he is being a subject of derision. People always say that we need to take things lightly. But what if one cannot be frivolous at the light of the moment. It is not always possible to accept mockery. Right. It's the mind, after all.

Likewise, it's our mind which decides the mood of the person speaking to you. Some people come out loud, even though they may not be. Some people seem funny, even though they are serious just like clown fish. It may not be funny but it's appearance might be. Some people look rude , though they may actually be the kindest person ever known. Everyone rightly say, 'Don't go by the looks, its almost always deceptive.' Likewise, judging a person by the tone of his voice, or his facial expressions also might not be right. Although all of us still do the same.

Some people have a facial structure such that it makes them look stern, or having a frown. Some people have such a voice which makes them seem too rude. So we aren't suppose to judge a person by looks, or by voice or by his mood. So how do we know or judge a person? Simple. Just don't judge. Just leave it. Don't think too much. It'l pass. Keep your mind empty. Right. But. Empty vessels make noise. Thats what every one says. So what do we do? Fill the vessel , something as pure as water. Think just positive. Not about people who worry you. Just about something light, Like a funny TV show for eg. Or the flowers your loved one sent you. or the smile your li'l one flashes at you, his cute li'l palms and feet.

My friend Ashwita , in her blog, mentiones that every person is a product of his circumstances in their past , both present and past life. It is so true. Not sure about the past but very true about the present. So I keep reminding myself, not to judge him or her, even though I do, but I keep controlling my mind from doing so every time. 'Coz by the end of the day, it never really matters what or how this or that person really affects our life. It only matters how we allow others to affect our life.

So really , its nothing to contemplate about.

Just Nothing.

And I just wrote a lengthy blog , so much which is really nothing and that too without a single picture.

Yaaay. (Me humming.)

Nothing but ...

"There is a little bit of dumbness and a little bit of intelligence in all people"
                                           - My Husband

Isn't this so true? How much ever one is intelligent, one tends to do/think dumb occasionally. Apparantly, this is one of the many witty persistent remarks/quotes that my hubby proclaims every now and then. And each time I sarcastically tell him that I need to make a note of his 'dialogues' . His repertoire of quotes keeps me amazed each time. Although I do forget them eventually.

Coming  to what I a actually had in mind, It's about LOVE.

There is a growing inclination towards love marriages in India over the recent years. Our country has been traditionally following the arranged marriage system from old times. The younger generation is preferring to adopt the love marriage systems. The older generation have started to accept.

********************

While I'm writing this:

Hubby: "Are you done?" (Intentionally trying to disturb me)

Me: "Why do you have to be mean to me all the time?" (I'm kinda irritated by him interfering in my work)

Hubby: "I Love You" (Me Blusshhhhhhhh.., only in my mind, a stern face)

Oh God!! Love... It is.

*******************

People-  fall in love. Fall apart in love. Some don't bother. Some keep it platonic. Some are faithful . Some are dishonest .Some hurt, fight, break in between. Some forget. Some cry and cry. Some get disinterested midway and back up. Some don't have the guts to continue because of the pressures from parents, society, work. Some don't even make an effort to ask/ fight for their love and give up before even trying. Some try and try , if nothing works out, do their own thing. Some try and try, and give up just for their parents. And there are some of these who relentlessly try, try and succeed. Get married. Have a beautiful Life together.

Parents only want to keep their children happy. And kids do not want to hurt their parents. People have started to contemplate the matter. At the end of the day most people have started to realize that , it's about staying happy together, keeping each other happy, keeping the family happy, it's about LOVE. True Love.  And not about their cast , religion or their status.

Hubby: "How long are you going to take?" (with a wicked smile)

Me: "I don't know, Please be quiet" (mocking)

************************

It's no more about Romeo and Juliet , Laila and Majnu. It's now about You and him/her, Hubby and Me( ;) )

Nothing but Love....

And why am I writing all this?

Just B'coz my cousin sis is getting married to her love, And She inspired me to write.

And to celebrate love, Here's the Orange and Walnut cake I made for Valentine's Day.

And Finally Here's my gooddy boody chubby wubby chweetie pie, whom I luv choooooooooo much, that I cuth eath him up:)  Look at that tree top :))

What Buddha said

I was reading a book earlier today and came across this beautiful verse where the great Buddha says "Believe not because some old manuscripts are produced, believe not because its your national belief, because you have been made to believe from childhood; but reason it all out, and after you have analysed it, then, if you find that it will do good to one and all, believe it, live up to it, and help others to live upto it".

What a great man Buddha is. He is said to be the only prophet who said " I do not care to know your various theories of God. What is the use of discussing the subtle doctrines about the soul? Do good and be Good. And this will take you to freedom and to wherever truth is."

Isn't it so true!! This is in wide contrast to where others want us to by heart all the versus written in books irrespective of you understanding its meaning or not, or even where we are forced to follow rules and superstitions blindly whether you like it or not. Why follow so many rules which don't make sense to us! Just hope someday everyone has their right to follow their own spiritual path and not be forced upon. Seriously.
